Recently, a good friend of mine referred his kid brother to me for custom cake services so that they could celebrate the soon-to-be birth of their baby boy in Lion King-style. Sam and his expecting wife, outlined specific details they wanted to see in a cake inspired by Simba in the infamous Lion King animated-story, for their baby shower. So I set off to make this three-tiered cake design with Simba, The Lion King as a cub, sitting atop for all to see. Our soon-to-be parents found this fitting for their little king, in which they are naming Samuel!
The square top-tier is actually a hidden, two-tier stacked cake, with vanilla bean and fresh strawberries for the filling, smothered in decadent vanilla buttercream; this tier was decorated in an African-inspired giraffe print. The couple found Simba-themed baby shower decor and party supplies to enhance the table top.
My clients chose milk chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream for the bottom tier. As Simba takes his first steps into his life, he leaves behind tiny paw prints around the bottom tier, on top of African Yellow fondant.
Here’s the beautiful mom-to-be…bet you couldn’t guess she’s a black belt martial artist! We were very proud to be part of their celebration and in lending a hand to make their day a little extra special.
